Under the Patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University The Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Fine Arts, organized an educational dialogue workshop entitled: “The Impact of Information Technology on Women” The workshop addressed a broad and diverse topic, highlighting both the positive and negative effects of information technology on women’s lives across various fields. Positive Aspects: 1. Improved Access to Education and Training: Providing opportunities for online learning and the development of academic and technical skills. 2. Economic Empowerment: Enabling women to work remotely and engage in freelance digital work, thus strengthening their economic independence. 3. Social Communication and Community Participation: Empowering women to express their views and participate in public debates and social causes through digital platforms. 4. Increased Career Opportunities: Opening new career paths for women in areas such as programming, digital design, and data science, helping reduce the gender gap in these fields. 5. Improved Health and Self-Care: Utilizing health applications and online medical consultations to raise awareness and improve women’s overall well-being. 6. Enhanced Cross-Cultural Communication: Building bridges for cultural and professional exchange among women worldwide, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation on global issues such as women’s rights. Negative Aspects: Despite the many benefits, the workshop also highlighted some of the challenges women face in the digital era, including: • Online Harassment: Women are more vulnerable to cyber harassment and security threats, affecting their personal safety. • The Digital Divide: Limited access to technology in some regions restricts women’s learning and professional development opportunities. • Professional Challenges: Women in the technology sector may face barriers in proving themselves or accessing equal opportunities due to social and cultural biases. In conclusion, the workshop emphasized that while information technology has become a vital tool in empowering women and expanding their horizons, it also requires addressing the challenges and risks that accompany it.

Under the Patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University The Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Fine Arts, organized an educational dialogue seminar entitled: “The Role of Women in Combating Extremism” on September 20, 2025, within the framework of Pillar Seven: Protection and Prevention. The seminar was held under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan Abdul-Jabbar, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division, with the participation of: • Dr. Suhaila Kazem Al-Ifari, Head of the Empowerment Committee in the College, • Mr. Karrar Haider Sahar, Representative of the Bar Association, • Mr. Hazem Jawad Kazem, Certified International Trainer in Combating Extremism at the Babylon Governorate Office. The event was attended by a number of faculty members and staff of the university, and witnessed significant interaction and fruitful discussions. The seminar emphasized the importance of promoting meaningful dialogue to counter hate speech with moderate discourse, spreading the spirit of tolerance, and instilling positive values in younger generations. As women represent half of society and shape the other half, they are uniquely positioned to foster a culture of dialogue, acceptance of others, and to establish women’s associations that include media figures, social activists, and conscious wives who can raise their voices against extremism and social violence. Women were highlighted as the first line of defense, a source of balance, and key partners in peacebuilding and combating extremism. The seminar concluded with several recommendations, including: • Providing awareness and training programs to strengthen women’s capacity in this field, • Supporting media that highlights women’s role in peacebuilding, • Integrating women into national strategies for combating terrorism and extremism.

The Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University, in cooperation with the College of Arts / Department of English, organized a seminar entitled “Women’s Empowerment and Education: The Path to Sustainable Development” within the framework of institutional participation and reform – First Pillar, on (September 13, 2025). The seminar was delivered by Assist. Lecturer Rusul Neama Kamal from the College of Arts and Humanities, who emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment and their role in modern education as a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development. She pointed out that education is not limited to providing women with knowledge, skills, and modern teaching methods, but also grants them the ability to actively participate in economic, social, and political life. She further explained that investing in women’s education positively reflects on both family and society by reducing poverty, improving health standards, increasing employment opportunities, and enhancing gender equality. The seminar also discussed the key challenges facing women’s education, such as poverty, restrictive social traditions, and weak supportive policies, while presenting solutions to enhance women’s access to education and continuous training. The event concluded with an affirmation that achieving sustainable development requires the integration of governmental, societal, and international efforts to ensure fair and equitable education, opening broader horizons for women to participate in shaping the future in light of modern developments

Workshop on “The Role of Women in Identifying Environmental Risks” As part of its efforts to promote environmental awareness, the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a workshop on August 23, 2025, entitled “The Role of Women in Identifying Environmental Risks.” The workshop was delivered by Asst. Lecturer Rusul Naama Kamal from the College of Arts and Humanities, with the attendance of several faculty members. The workshop highlighted the importance of women’s participation in environmental issues and their active role in identifying risks and challenges facing society. Key Themes of the Workshop: 1. Women and Environmental Awareness: • Women, due to their close connection with families and local communities, are highly capable of observing environmental changes. • They play a fundamental role in spreading environmental awareness within families, schools, and society. 2. Identifying Environmental Risks: • Women contribute to monitoring issues such as pollution, water scarcity, poor waste management, and land degradation. • They are able to provide practical solutions linked to daily life challenges. 3. Participation in Decision-Making: • The necessity of involving women in environmental policies and sustainable development plans. • Strengthening their presence in environmental institutions and organizations. 4. Examples and Successful Experiences: • Showcasing cases of women who contributed to recycling projects, tree-planting campaigns, and energy conservation initiatives. 5. Recommendations: • Empowering women through environmental training and education programs. • Supporting women-led environmental initiatives. • Involving women in designing strategies to address environmental risks to ensure sustainable solutions.

The Women’s Affairs Division, in collaboration with the College of Agricultural Technologies, is organizing a workshop titled: “Political Participation and Development for Iraqi Women: Towards Empowering Female Leadership” The workshop will be delivered by: Assistant Lecturer: Ritaj Aqeel Dawood Kareem Assistant Lecturer: Rofal Fawzi Kareem on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 This workshop aims to shed light on the importance of Iraqi women’s participation in political life and to enhance their role in decision-making positions by building their leadership capabilities and developing their political and social skills. This initiative comes in response to the urgent need to politically empower women amid the challenges they face within Iraqi society—particularly in terms of fair representation and active participation. The workshop will address several key themes, including: • Analyzing the current political landscape for women • Reviewing the social, cultural, and legislative barriers limiting their participation • Showcasing successful female leadership models • Presenting strategies for political development through training and women’s networking Furthermore, the workshop aims to raise participants’ awareness of their constitutional and political rights and equip them with the tools needed to engage in political work, participate in elections, join political parties, and contribute to public policymaking. The workshop will conclude with an action plan and practical recommendations to support women’s empowerment and pave the way for a new generation of female leaders capable of making a positive impact on Iraq’s political future.

The Women’s Affairs Division, in collaboration with the College of Education at Al-Mustaqbal University, organized a workshop entitled “The Role of Iraqi Women in Parliamentary Elections: Active Participation and Achievements,” delivered by Professor Dr. Sanaa Bahaa Al-Din Abdullah. The workshop shed light on the milestones achieved by Iraqi women in political life, particularly their participation in parliamentary elections. It addressed the challenges they have faced and the accomplishments they have made in representing women’s voices within the Iraqi Parliament. The discussion emphasized the importance of utilizing the women’s quota system and enhancing women’s political performance through awareness, training, and encouragement to engage in electoral experiences. The lecture also highlighted successful models of Iraqi female leadership and the significant role women can play in promoting the values of democracy and equality. This workshop is part of a series of activities aimed at reinforcing gender equality principles, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 5: Gender Equality.
